We deliberately position our product as an enduring and high quality solution, aimed at clubs or operators with vision beyond short-term commercial gain. These are facilities that create a first-class legacy. There are other providers of steel and polycarbonate canopies in the UK offering ‘premium products’ but it is important to understand the differences which might lead to a price discrepancy.

Canopy

Specification

Designed to meet EN 1993 Eurocode 3 – this is concerned with requirements for resistance, serviceability, durability and fire resistance of steel structures. Our pavilions are permanent structures designed for life.

Uses hot dip galvanised steel to prevent corrosion over lifespan.

Uses the best quality polycarbonate on the market. We specify 30mm Danpalon® which is more costly than other polycarbonate sheets, but it provides exceptional quality of light, rich non-industrial visual appeal, delivers thermal & acoustic insulation and UV protection.

Padel Plus is the only supplier using multi-cellular PC with a thermal transmittance value that complies with the typical values of 1.2-1.5 W/m2ºK required for indoor and enclosed facilities in the UK.

Structure will permit virtually no light spill (one of the benefits of cellular PC is that it lets natural light in but very little artificial light back out).

Structure will absorb considerable sound.

Designed to provide optimum playing conditions: the closest experience to playing outdoors but with the benefit of certainty of play whatever the weather conditions.

Sustainable design for long-term economic operation.

Has a designed life exceeding 40 years and is fully guaranteed against defects in material and workmanship for 25 years (subject to proper maintenance).

FAQs

  • I have seen textile covered canopies failing in recent storms. Are your canopies designed to withstand hurricane conditions like traditional buildings?

It’s very difficult to compare our steel and polycarbonate structures with lower quality textile covered structures given their short life span and vulnerability to wind and the debris associated with storms. Padel Plus and our specialist partner Esguin engineer our structures to endure. They are warrantied for 25 years with a service life in excess of 40 years. They are designed for specific local wind and snow loads, and other environmental considerations. The higher capital cost is easily offset by the superior playing characteristics and length of service.

  • Can solar panels be added to your canopies?

Yes, and our team is experienced working with solar specialists on projects of all sizes. Where PV cells are required, we typically specify a sandwich panel roof which has the strength to support the cells, and then draw natural light into the structure via a strip of transparent material around the perimeter of the roof, and/or via the side elevations.

“The addition of padel is an immediate success. We have signed up 270 members and have a waitlist of 140, all achieved without any real marketing campaign to promote the courts. There is easily demand for an additional court, and probably two more without breaking a sweat.”

“Honoured to be building the first padel courts for the British Army at Bicester Garrison. Two of Padel Plus UK's Super Panoramic courts have been installed in June as part of an existing gym facility where soldiers train mind and body, and recover after injury. This is hopefully the start of establishing padel within the army and growing it across the armed forces.”
